Winter Solstice Silent Retreat
The word “Solstice” is a Latin word which translates as -“the sun standing still”. The winter solstice, in North America, is the darkest day of the year- a point where the sun pauses before it turns around on its journey of increasing light. Winter solstice has been a sacred time in many traditions to pause under this blanket of darkness to listen deeply for spiritual insights. Ironically, in our western culture we spend the darkest days of the year socializing, shopping, eating and drinking. In this day-long silent retreat, we will take a step back from the busyness of this time of year, and use our practcie to re-charge, listen, and contemplate. Stephanie will guide you through a silent day of gentle yoga, Qigong, Yin Yoga, Seated and walking meditation, and psychospiritual inquiry. Crystal singing bowls, essential oils, and guided relaxation will also be incorporated to leave you feeling rested and recharged before the Christmas season. Your tuition includes a delicious organic vegan lunch made by The Heart Caffe, and all yoga instruction.
*Please note: Social silence will be held throughout the day to promote an environment of inner contemplation. It is also encouraged you turn off your cell phone and all other technology for the duration of the retreat.
